Consejos para elegir entre los módulos SD y MM en SAP para una carrera exitosa

Estimados Expertos, soy titular de un PGDM en Transporte y Logística. Trabajé como ejecutivo de almacén durante 10 meses donde Realicé operaciones con el sistema Oracle ERP Esoleil , es decir, reportando:

  • Procesamiento de pedidos
  • Entrega (local e inter-estatal)
  • Preparación de facturas
  • Informe de entrega con hora y fecha
  • Conteo de inventario
  • Transferencia de stock
  • Entrada de transporte
  • Reposición de piezas reciclables

Después de eso, trabajé como supervisor en una imprenta donde me encargaba de todas las funciones del negocio, desde la adquisición hasta la entrega. Pero no había un sistema EP en el negocio.


Ahora estoy confundido sobre si debería elegir SD o MM. Como necesito una carrera en SAP y un trabajo en SAP, ¿qué módulo debería elegir? ¿Qué módulo tiene mejores oportunidades laborales para un recién graduado en ASP? Por favor, necesito su valioso consejo.

Hola,

Tu confusión es normal. Deberías elegir SAP-SD ya que tiene la mayoría de los componentes de LE, además LE requiere una buena comprensión de MM, mi sugerencia sería hacer SD y luego aprender MM mientras trabajas (de todos modos te verás obligado a aprender ya que MM tiene mucha integración con SD) o si tienes mucho dinero para gastar, también puedes optar por una certificación en MM (pero considera hacer la certificación después de 3 años en SAP SD).

Sayak,

Como muestra la estructura del menú de ayuda de SAP (y la estructura del menú dentro de SAP), MM, SD y LE son todos componentes separados de Logística, por lo que no es ni SD ni MM.

I would say that your experience falls under MM. To look at the structure, go to SAP's Help website: help.sap.com. Pick SAP Business Suite from the Help Portal section at the top. From the links on the side, pick SAP ERP. From the expanded links, pick SAP ERP 6.0. From the Application Help section, pick your preferred language (I'll assume English) for SAP ERP Central Component. From the links at the side under SAP ERP, pick SAP ERP Central Component. From the links on the left side, open up Logistics. From the areas under Logistics, I think that you'll find your experience fits in Materials Management (MM) and Logistics Execution (LE).

MM includes Inventory Management and Physical Inventory (and other things). LE includes Warehouse Management, Shipping, and Transportation (and other things). The only part of your skill set that's in SD would be Order Processing (and you can check out SD in Help as well, also under Logistics).

As for which has more jobs, I have no idea. I'd suggest logging on your favorite job board and comparing the results when you search for SAP + Sales and Distribution, and SAP + Materials Management.

In my opinion, the best way to learn is to get a job with a consulting firm based on your industry experience, and have them train you. Getting training on your own is no substitute for being able to develop your skills on a team.
